The Utah State Board of Education recently approved Provo-based educational software company, Imagine Learning, as one of the only approved providers for both K-1 and 2-3 categories of Utah’s Early Intervention Reading Software Program (EIRSP). 

The EIRSP program offers a grant for all Utah elementary schools to provide reading software programs to students in grades K-3. The goal of the intervention program is to improve literacy skills across the state. 

Due to a rigorous, third-party evaluation that looks at the efficacy, scope, implementation ability, and referrals of an educational software program, only a handful of companies were chosen as approved providers. Imagine Learning was one of only two approved EdTech solutions for both the K-1 and 2-3 categories.

Each year, the Utah State Board of Education hires a third-party evaluator to assess available educational software programs. Results from the most recent Utah Evaluation Summary show that kindergarten, second, and third grade students who used Imagine Language & Literacy performed statistically better on end-of-year Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) assessments than students who didn’t use the Imagine Learning program. The study also showed that an increased use of Imagine Language & Literacy was associated with statistically better performance on nearly every component of the DIBELS assessment for kindergarten and first grade students.
